Insomnia is a sleep disorder characterized by difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up too early and not being able to go back to sleep. It can lead to daytime fatigue, irritability, difficulty concentrating, and impaired performance in daily activities. Causes of insomnia include stress, anxiety, depression, poor sleep habits, medical conditions, and certain medications. Treatment options range from lifestyle changes, such as maintaining a consistent sleep schedule and avoiding caffeine before bedtime, to cognitive behavioral therapy and medication when necessary.
Requirements to participate
- Must be at least 18 years old, with individuals 65 years of age or older encouraged to participate.
- Must not have received a similar trial in the past 6 months.
- Must be in overall good health or meet specific risk criteria.
- Requires meeting with a study physician to determine full eligibility.
- The study physician will assess if the study is right for you.
- Additional medical and lifestyle factors may be evaluated during the screening process.
